G Ahearn August 5, 2017 Please help....I made rookie mistakes that bother me every time I look at them. We chose to keep the bath tub because of our elderly parents. I chose to finish the bathtub area without a border in order to avoid a three week delay. The marble tile was installed over the tub. I want to replace the tub for a shower now, since the bath opens to the pool area. I wonder if it is worth the expense or if it is even possible without redoing the entire bathroom. I have ordered a plain wood oval mirror with a bronze finish to replace the rectangular one. Should I paint the vanity white? Will a niche of brown mosaic tiles do the trick? The confounding issue is that the ceiling slopes down (not the entire ceiling, actually, just the 12" or so closest to the north wall), making many off-the-shelf options too tall. At 32" from the corner, I only have 70" (at best 71") in height. The ceiling slopes down, so at 36" out, there's only 68" in height. This bathroom is installed in an attic, and this is one spot where there's no slack to go up; the roof is not far above the drywall here. Most of what I've been finding is 72" of shower surround + 4-6" of shower pan = 76=78" (in part because code here in California requires waterproof

Marzipan Memories March 2, 2007 It’s amazing how intertwined scent and memory are. Certain smells can take you back to another place and time. The sharp scent of gas reminds me of NP stations in Trinidad, where men in red and black shirts pump your gas for you. The gas in my memory somehow has a sweeter and sharper smell than American gas does. The scent of freshly-struck matches and vanilla candles takes me back to blackouts and hurricanes, the week we spent without power after Hurricane Wilma. And the smell of almond soap takes me back to a horrendous job I had after I graduated from high school. The one good memory I have about that job was the delicious bathroom soap , how the scent would linger on my hands. I always wanted to find a similarly scented soap for myself, but this was the pink kind that’s installed in public restroom dispensers . Despite my love for that bargain basement soap , I’m a bit of a soap snob. I have yet to find a scent of Softsoap that I enjoy, and don
