12 great homes for sale near national parks

Gambar
Many of us have visited national parks while on vacation, awed by their grandeur and natural beauty. But have you ever wondered what it would be like to wake up to such a breathtaking landscape every day? You never tire of it, says Leslie Bergman, who along with her husband, Ron, owns Spring Lakes Farm near the Olympic National Park in Washington. “The experience of living here is something much larger than ourselves, and we always wake with a sense of wonder and awe, which has never diminished,” she said. “It’s irresistible to live out here and not be outside, even standing on our front porch. We’re in a glacial carved valley , and we’re completely ringed by mountains. Just to stand out there with a cup of coffee, it’s really transformative. It’s transformative for your coffee as well.” [America’s natural heritage : a look at the 59 national parks ] People who live near national parks are treated each day to natural wonders that can include majestic mountains , sparkling la

Americas Best Value Inn in Bradford

I was scheduled to arrive Thursday nite. I had no directions on how to get there, so I called. I could not understand them on the cell phone on how to get there. I handed the phone to the person I was travelling with, and they could not understand them either. The only thing they would say was "follow 219, k". I asked a few a people and they did not know where the hotel was. finally asked at another hotel, and the lady was nice enough to let me know where it was. Once there, and we checked in, the room we had, was not what was we ordered, although it was cheaper. There was no heat in the room, so we had to call the office, and we had to walk up to the office to get a space heater. Which it did help keep us warm. If you were on the inside of the room, trying to get out, we had to use both hands to get the door open, cause it was stuck so much. There was duct tape on the back of the window in the bathroom. Dont know what that was about. The breakfast, was a choice of 3 differen

Piping for a New Shower – Plumbing 101

Gambar
So you’re sick of your shower? You’ve seen some of the new gizmos at the home centers and you’d like to get in on the fun. This is going to be our first article in our new Plumbing 101 series. In this article we’ll talk about some of the latest features in shower plumbing and we’ll show you several piping diagrams that should help you decide what you want in your new bathroom apparatus and even how to pipe it yourself. SHOWER RAIN DOME This is a pretty easy upgrade . Basically it’s a huge shower head that makes you feel like you’re getting deluged with water. They come in different shapes like square and round and have a variety of sizes. The only thing you have to worry about is the height of the shower. Sometimes these rain domes sit lower in the shower. If the shower doesn’t have enough head room you’ll whack your noggin on it. SLIDE BAR WITH A HAND HELD SHOWER This can be done a couple different ways. Most commonly a slide bar is installed and the slide bar has an adjustable bra

Anti-Materialism Parenting - No New Toys, Hand Me Downs

I started telling people I was pregnant at about six weeks along, which, I know, is abnormal etiquette to begin with, but so is telling everyone you run into that you’re happy to intercept their baby garbage before it hits Goodwill / the Bermuda Triangle / the actual trash. Because, of course, even the most minimalist baby does need some things — a car seat, for example (New York City hospitals won 't let you leave without one, and mine quickly shot down my proposal to take the subway home with a newborn and stitches in my vagina). After I put the word out, I soon got a used car seat — and the used stroller it fit into, and a used crib, and a used breastfeeding pillow, a used high chair, used bottles, hand-me-down baby clothes of all sizes, and yes, even a used breast pump — from kind co-workers, neighbors, friends, family, and my dentist. My son has never worn new clothes, but I promise you he hasn’t noticed.

How Often Should I Bathe My Dog? – iHeartDogs.com

Gambar
Advertisement We as humans bathe or shower every day (and sometimes more in my job) and we wonder about hygiene for our pets. Dogs can and should be trained to be calm and accepting of a bath at an early age. Because of the nature of a dog (see Why Does My Dog Stink), many house dogs will be bathed often. Dog owners want to know how much is too much or not enough. All pets should be brushed or inspected on a frequent basis. This allows their caregiver to assess any changes in their coat or skin health, noting changes in hair texture, missing hair, the presence of parasites or skin masses. A bath is a great chance to do a thorough inspection because with the hair wet and lying down, you can see things that you may have overlooked. Changes uncovered in these inspections should be mentioned to the veterinarian as soon as possible. Full shampoo baths are recommended no more than once weekly if you use many of the topical flea products . Because some of them depend on oils in the skin to

Aromatherapy Associates

Gambar
Aromatherapy Associates Article added on January 5, 2010 A history of Aromatherapy Aromatherapy dates at least back to Ancient Egypt. Embalming, mummification, fragrances for daily life, bath oils as well as the use of aromatics in incense and medicine flourished. The Greek, the Romans, the Persians, the Chinese and the Indians, to name just a few, added to and refined the knowledge. In the 1880s, the German physician Robert Koch and subsequently his French colleagues Chamberland, Cadéac, Meunier, Blaizot, Caldagues and Bertrand proofed the antiseptic and microbicidal properties of essential oils. The term “Aromatherapy” is fairly recent. The French chemist Ren é-Maurice Gattefossé (1881-1950) coined it. Working in the family's laboratory, the perfumer studied the medicinal properties of essential oils. In 1937, he published his knowledge in Aromathérapie, les huiles essentielles , hormones végétales , regrouping previous publications in one book. The other fathers of present-

Everything You Need to Survive the Communal Bathroom

Gambar
We all know that moving into a college dorm means sharing your room with a brand new roommate. Pretty cool, right? But we can’t forget about that other space you’ll have to start sharing …One that maybe isn’t  so exciting. That’s right — we’re talking about the communal bathroom. Take a look at what you’ll need to survive this space. A robe. A robe is  much more comfortable than making the run from your room to the showers in just a towel. Imagine trying to hold up a towel while you’re also hauling your shower caddy down the hall. Or, even worse, imagine the fire alarm goes off! Trust us…A robe is a must. Cheap flip flops. While the bathrooms are cleaned regularly, we still doubt you’ll want to walk across those floors and showers barefoot. A simple cheap pair of plastic flip flops will do the trick — nothing fancy! A few towels. College gets busy. Before you know it, your hamper is overflowing and it’s been weeks since you’ve done your laundry. Make sure you have quite a few towe

How to Perform a Cleansing Ritual Bath for Renewal

Gambar
Do you ever feel extra delicious after taking a shower? All of your muscles, skin, bones, and fascia feel like they’re much more integrated with each other than when you first entered, no? In fact, you may feel calmer, more level-headed, and your body may feel less tight. When we shower or take a bath, it is to cleanse our body of impurities, and we often just perform this as a task to get ready for work or bed, or as a midday refresher post -workout. However, water purification not only cleanses the Body, but depending on how we do it, it can also also clear the Mind, Spirit, and Heart, as well. Since the dawn of time, cleansing ourselves has taken on many meanings. And, it has become meaningful. Water, in and of itself, is life. Water brings growth and rebirth. And, humans, plants, and animals need it to live, thrive, and multiply. It also feeds our Earth Consciousness. It symbolizes life, growth, purity, flow, sensuality, emotion, and energy. Without water, everything on on our pla
