Company recalls infant bath tub over injury risk

Lil’ Luxuries Whirlpool, Bubbling Spa & Shower with fabric slings (Consumer Product and Safety Commission)

Summer Infant is voluntarily recalling thousands of bath tubs because of an issue with the fabric slings.

This recall involved the Lil’ Luxuries Whirlpool, Bubbling Spa & Shower bathtubs with fabric slings. According to the Consumer Product and Safety Commission, the slings are missing a white plastic attachment clip.

This attachment clip holds the headrest area of the sling to the plastic frame of the tub.

imageAccording to the CSPC there have been 91 reports of the sling detaching, including 11 reports of infants bumping their heads.

There have been no reports of serious injuries or drowning.

The bath tubs were sold at Toys R Us, Babies R Us and other specialty stores between October 2012 and October 2013.

Owners are urged to stop using them and contact Summer Infant for a replacement sling with the white plastic attachment clip.
