Are roll top baths too messy if you have a shower fitted over it? Is there a way round it?

It’s true freestanding baths are messier as they have more open edges, but a decent looped shower curtain will help. The other issue with cast-iron baths is the weight – they can be seriously heavy, so you may need to have the floor strengthened.

Bathstore’s (bathstore.com) acrylic Norfolk showering bath (above), £599, solves both of these problems, as it’s light, has a corner that can butt against two walls, and takes standard glass shower screens or curtains.

Can a modern freestanding bathtub also be a shower?

carriejlb June 6, 2012 I am remodeling a small bathroom and picture a simple, modern, freestanding tub. There is no room for a separate shower, but I thought I could have an external shower head and suspended oval shower -curtain rod like you often see with clawfoot tubs. But I can't seem to find pics of a similar set up. Is it possible??? Why or why not? Here's an image of the tub I wanted and an example of the kind of shower set I envision. Thanks!!!
