The 6 best tutorials on how to convert a dresser into a bathroom vanity

After posting my revised layout for the bathroom  and considering your comments, I am thinking more about the size of the shower.   I like my new layout, but there is only so much space to work with. I’m afraid the shower might not be large enough — and making it larger would force a smaller vanity. Originally, I wanted to convert a 52- inch retro dresser — which I scored on craigslist for $25 — into my master bath vanity . I still like the idea, but I’m also thinking about other options. Regardless of what I end up doing, I still did the research. I went online, reviewed about 15 different tutorials, and narrowed them down to the ...

Standard Bathroom Design and Sizes

A typical home bathroom has been one of the smaller rooms in the house for decades. Only in recent years have larger bathrooms emerged that include room for a whirlpool tub and dressing table. A standard full bath still works well if clutter is kept to a minimum and extra storage space is available in a nearby room or hallway. Typical Bath Dimensions A standard bathroom measures 5 feet by 8 feet. It has a bath-shower combo, sink and toilet. You will need to allow these dimensions to create a full bath; however, you can create a 6-by-6- foot small bathroom with a corner shower if space is tight. Design the standard bath by using graph paper to create various layouts in relation to the entry door. Storage Ideas Planning adequate storage makes a standard bath work well. It’s usually a good idea to have closet space in a hallway or bedroom. Stacks of towels and toiletries can be stored in that closet. Basic bath and dressing items can be stored in a vanity cabinet or cabinet above...

Design help - Attic bath with sloped ceiling

Gambar
ideashare June 22, 2015 Bath is 5'4" x 11'4", 28" entry door opens into left side of room in front of vanity. Most of the drywall "walls" (not ceiling) have been removed with the exception of a few inches around the vanity & toilet. The current vanity is 36"W & a 22"D x 21"W drywall closet with door has been removed. This drywall closet covered up the Pointy Area in the ceiling. I would miss the function of the linen closet, but removing it has made the room look better and feel much less crowed especially to the side of toilet. I tried shopping for a 36" vanity and 15"W linen closet, but did not know they only seemed to come in 90" 88" 84". Thought of sawing the top off, but afraid I would ruin the cabinet. If I go with the linen closet look again, had planned to drywall the top pointy area above it. The bottom of the pointy area begins @ 79". The bath goes from left to right - old 36"W van...

Choosing Bathroom Fixtures - A Concord Carpenter

Gambar
Choosing Bathroom Fixtures By Sarah Carmichael on Bathrooms By Sarah Green Carmichael Using American Standard fixtures On a Bathroom Remodel Bath fixtures might not be the first thing you think of when you start your bathroom renovation — most people start by thinking about the big things, like layout, tile, and vanities — but they are an important aspect of the finished product. Essentially, they’re like the jewelry you choose to complete the perfect outfit : a finishing touch that classes up the whole look, making it feel finished and polished. Avoid Choice Paralysis And yet if you suffer from choice paralysis — the phenomenon whereby having too many options results in an inability to choose anything — choosing bath hardware is almost guaranteed to cause a flare-up. A visit to a bath showroom or big box home store retailer can quickly overwhelm with options. And since of course bath fixtures are about function as much as form, there can be a lot of factors to consider. Classic ...

Gambar
Thanks to all the readers who uploaded photos of their awesome vintage bathrooms and bathroom tile on our recent story — 171 photos of the vintage and new bathroom tile in reader homes . What a treat it was to get a look into your loos! With 171 photos, it took quite a bit of work to narrow it down to the featured 12. I tried to pick bathrooms with interesting color schemes , unusual and detail oriented tile jobs — it was really impossible, there were so many terrific vintage bathrooms — but here are 12 of my favorite original bathrooms . Above: Jeanne’s vintage grey and black bathroom tile caught my eye because of the classic, high-quality two- tone pinwheel floor tile and the thin black liner tile , set low, that ties in with the black toilet paper holder . Such a great detail! Above: DJS from Brecksville, Ohio has a lovely original Regency Blue bathroom with American Standard Fixtures in their 1961 ranch.
