Several months ago I was in the Chicagolandarea to give a talk to an NKBA gathering. While there, I visited several wholesaler showrooms. One of them absolutely knocked my socks off! Over the years I have visited several-hundred showrooms across America and Canada. I’ve seen the good, the not so good and everything between. When I drove up to, walked into and walked through the Studio 41 showroom in the Chicago north suburb of Highland Park , Ill., I knew I was in one of the best showrooms I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting. My good friend, Bob Lando , who recently retired from Community Home Supply in Chicago, was my tour guide for the day. Protecting a gardener’s hands: Your advice… Sometimes a post on our Flea Market Gardening Facebook page just strikes a chord with everyone.  This one did and the result is many fine tips for caring for our hands after gardening.  After all we still want to have soft hands…  Where do you stand on wearing gloves ? Awful hands! “My hands! I’m working them to the bone, and today THIS is what they feel like! Dirt under my fingernails just like when I was a kid! I pick up cement stepping stones to move them and feel the rough surface tear at my skin. What really gets me is the rough SIDES of my fingers that have tiny cracks. My family likes to have annual summer vacations and this year it was decided we would take a river cruise in Europe, specifically the "Paris and the Heart of Normandy" itinerary that sails the Seine river in France. We had a total of 8 people: two in their young teens (12 and 16) two in their late 20's (myself and brother at 28 and 29) two in their 40's (my sister and brother-in-law) and our parents, in their late 60's and early 70's. To give some perspective, my brother and I have done multiple ocean cruises so we have some experience with cruising. This was a whole 'nother animal though, and for the most part, we all loved it. Demographics: Going into it, we knew that the demographics would be way off what we are used to. Most people were in their 50's and 60's with a few past that.
