Ocean Stone Bath Mat

Ocean Stone Bath Mat (10)" /> I was inspired to start this project when I saw the DIY river stone bath mat repinned a couple hundred times on my Pinterest feed! My problems with that are that the rocks were polished smooth, making it extremely unsafe when wet, they used hot glue which is not something that will hold up over time, and there was nowhere for excess water to drain off. I decided to eliminate those three issues and put my own spin on it by using ocean stones from our favorite beach . It took me a few trips to get the right amount, but I couldn’t be happier with the final product! ….. Ocean Stone Bath Mat (1)" /> Supplies: Outdoor rubber mat – with holes or spaces for water to drain Smooth ocean or river stones – make sure they are porous, not slick and polished. The amount will vary on the size of the mat and can be found near rivers, oceans, or your local craft store ! ; ) Clear waterproof silicone sealer Plastic drop cloth or old shower curtain The...

by Debra Martin KomaAllEars® Senior Editor Feature Article This article appeared in the June 15, 2009 Issue #508 of ALL EARS® (ISSN: 1533-0753) When I first started visiting Walt Disney World , in the early '90s, my family and I stayed several times at what was then known as the Disney Institute -- now Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa. The studio villas there were spacious, but never fully booked, so we got some great rates. But when staying there I used to spy these really cool houses on stilts -- they were called Treehouses, and they accommodated larger families , so I didn't ever think I'd stay there. But I really wanted to! I had this romanticized notion of having a special place hidden up among the branches and leaves -- conjured up images of secret clubhouses built by ambitious dads for their kids. That's what the treehouses looked like to me, and I secretly plotted to find a way to stay there some day. When the Treehouses were closed in 2002, that dream wa...
