How To Get Your Bathroom Ready For Holiday Guests

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #GetUnderTheRim #CollectiveBias   The holidays are coming and, for many, that means entertaining friends and family. We started a new tradition last year of having family over on Christmas Eve so, being the Type A person that I am, I’ve already started planning for it. I generally have always decorated my home for Christmas before the holiday chaos begins anyways, but I’ve also started planning the menu we will have and deep cleaning our home. I also like to get ready for any overnight guests I may have, like my younger siblings who need a place to stay when they come to town. One room on the list to tackle is the guest bathroom. Since we live in a small home, we only have two bathrooms and our “guest” bathroom is also the bathroom that everyone in our home uses. Living with three males I’m sure you can imagine the mess I have to deal with in there. Generally Sinisa cleans the ba...

Smart Spring Cleaning - CBS News

It's spring! And of course now's the perfect time to tackle your spring cleaning . This is a good time to do a good heavy-duty cleaning of areas you have avoided over the winter. Real Simple magazine 's Kris Connell stopped by The Saturday Early Show to share some advice on tackling that traditional annual chore . The May issue of Real Simple gives easy-to-follow advice on cleaning your home from top to bottom. The editors suggest that you don't tackle everything at once. Instead, clean a little bit every day. This will help you avoid using up a whole weekend just for cleaning. Connell says you can make your cleaning more efficient by using the right tools and cleaning supplies . Real Simple's editors believe you should clean in the following order: Dust: Dusting is the best place to start and it's rewarding because a little dusting goes a long way. How to Clean Glass Shower Doors (the easy way!)

Gambar
Everybody has their own ways of cleaning.  I have noticed that people have different ideas of clean.  And I have really noticed this as I have looked around the internet (Hello, Pinterest!) to find solutions to household cleaning questions .  I often run into “solutions” that just don’t work for my housekeeping problem.  My latest problem was our spotty, streaky, hard water stained glass shower .  You might not have noticed it immediately upon stepping into my bathroom, but I hated how spotty my glass shower was.  Mind you, it was really upon close inspection, that you would have noticed my clear problem.  And so I went to the internet to solve all my household problems.  What I wanted was “like-new” shower glass .  What I got, was not!  And I tried a LOT of solutions. And then my nerd cleaning buddy , Gil (a car glass repairman ) and I were talking cleaning one day (as you do) and he gave me a discourse (seriously!) on the best products for cleaning glass .  I was overwhelmed by his e...

What is a Shower Liner? (with pictures)

tolleranza Post 7 I have done some serious cleaning of bathrooms like it sounds like one may need to do before putting on a shower liner. (I have had to do such cleaning thanks to the house that my husband and I bought in "as-is" condition and I have to say the best cleaning product by far was this stuff called Bar Keeper 's Friend.) We had bought a wide array of things to try to get the brown film off of the bathroom tile when we first moved in, and the only other cleaners that even slightly had the brown budging were the extreme cleaners that required a mask to use, until... we used Bar Keeper's Friend. The stuff was, for us magical, and it is only two dollars and ninety seven cents at the local store - no specialty store required . runner101 Post 6 These bathtub and shower liners are fabulous! Just one word of warning - make sure to check on how to install the tubs large faucet back on. I had a friend who installed a beautiful liner and but the tub faucet fixtu...

A Brief History of the Bathroom

Gambar
The privacy, comfort, luxury and extreme sanitary conditions that we associate with our bathrooms today are the result of thousands of years of civil engineering and social change. Indoor plumbing, flushing toilets , heated water, water pressure , electricity and ventilation may be features we take for granted in our modern bathroom. But all of our bathroom’s high tech gadgets had a long history in the making. Although humans have always had the need to use toilet facilities and have used bathing as a way to cleanse themselves, it took centuries for our culture to bring these two important functions together into one convenient room. Let’s explore the fascinating history of the bathroom and see how much, or how little, has changed. Ancient Societies and Public Bathing When we talk about the activities we perform in our bathrooms today, we tend to speak of everything that relates to taking care of our bodies: washing, bathing, cleaning, relieving ourselves, manicuring our outer appear...
