Organize Everything - The Bathroom

Hello my friends!  I am now back from Las Vegas and had a FABULOUS time!  It is such a fun place to visit and I had a great time catching up with one of my best friends from way back in Kindergarten.  We spent our time lounging by the pool {yes, even in 110 degree temperatures!}, shopping up a storm, and taking in all of the amazing, crazy sights and sounds of Las Vegas.  I can’t wait to go back!

For those of you that sent me emails and questions while I was gone, I am trying to get back to everyone that I can.  I am going through about 300 emails so I am hoping that I don’t miss anyone.  If you had a specific question and I didn’t reply, you might want to ask me again.  I promise I am not ignoring you!

Okay, so {finally} onto some bathroom organization!  I have been working on little “mini makeovers” for my bathrooms over the last couple of months .  Our main master bathroom and our ensuite bathroom both need a few upgrades but I wanted to get things organized first before tackling any larger projects in there.

Here is our master bathroom.  We re-painted the cabinets white a few years ago and changed out the facet on the sink.  I have been wanting to re-do the tile in the bathtub since we moved in 10 years ago but I rarely use this bathroom and tiling just doesn’t sound like a fun project.

I found this shower curtain at Target that I loved and it served as the color scheme for the rest of the bathroom.

I added a few accessories and made thisbeach sign.  I found the hot/cold knob towel rack at Winners for $8.    It is really just a piece of molding with some drawer knobs attached to it.  Super easy to make but I figured it would be cheaper just to buy it!

This bathroom also has a large closet that was in need of some organization.

I went through the bath towels and kept the best 8 {2 for each of us}.  I also got rid of a ton of face cloths and hand towels that I never used.  The top shelf was filled with cleaning products that I no longer need as I have replaced most of them with more natural cleaners {more on that in the next bathroom post!} 2 bags of garbage later, I was left with this:

Much better! {The top shelf is usually filled more with toilet paper and paper towels – looks like I need to go shopping!}

I have always loved taking baths, so our ensuite bathtub was one of my favorite things about the house when we bought it.  I am still trying to figure out what to do with that brass trim {I think I will be attempting to paint it} and I would like to replace the facet.  The walls will soon be re-painted in a soft gray.

I am a bit of a bath product junkie and am a huge sucker for anything that smells yummy.  I discovered Freshwhen I was down in Vegas and now have yet another store to add to my list of favorite bath time finds.  What  are your favorite bath products?  Anything fabulous that I am missing out on?

I have lots of little storage areas around the bathtub to hold extra towels, shampoo, and other bath products.  {You can find directions for the bubble bath bottle here}.

Now remember that chalk paint that I got a couple of weeks ago? {that I still haven’t had time to use!} Well, this is one of the projects that I bought it for.

I think the details of the cabinet and the cupboards will look great with some Old White paint and distressing.  I also splurged on some amazing turquoise knobs from Anthropology when I was in Vegas that I absolutely love!  The light fixture {blah!} and the facet will also be changed out.

  1. I think drawer dividers are an absolute must for the bathroom.  There always seem to be a million little things in a bathroom that require organizing and these dividers can be purchased in numerous sizes.
  2. If you are short on storage space or want something a little more handy, add a decorative shelf.  This one is from Willow House and stores my lotion, cotton swabs, and Q-tips. {The link to the jars can be found here.}
  3. Yep, I told you I was a bath product junkie.  I purchased these pull out drawers {hair products on top and bath products on the bottom} on clearance at Bed, Bath and Beyond so I can easily find what I am looking for without tipping a bunch of other bottles over.

I added a towel rack above the toilet and a couple of storage boxes on top to hold toilet paper and a couple of extra cleaning cloths for the bathroom.

And I found this little box at Winners for $3.

Two bathrooms done and two to go!  I’ll show those next week and share a little bit about how I have organized my bathroom cleaning {super exciting topic, I know!}

Hope you all have a great night!
