17 lovely tiny home bathrooms

People across America are embracing the tiny house movement. According to the 2016 U.S. Census, the average cost of a new home in the United States is $356,200. Because of the price, many are choosing to downsize to something smaller that can be paid off quickly. Forbes reports that the average cost for a tiny home is $200 to $400 per square foot. With the average size of a tiny home being 100 to 400 square feet, according to The Tiny Life, the cost for the tiny home comes to a much more manageable $160,000.

With a downsizing from 2,598 square feet, what was, according to CNN Money, the average size for an American home in 2013, to only 400 square feet or less means that something has to be given up. Tiny home dwellers have to decide what is more important to them, a normal sized kitchen or larger common room, a larger bathroom or larger kitchen. Just because you choose to go tiny doesn't mean you have to go without the comforts of a full-sized bath.

1. This tiny house by Chris Heininge Construction goes all out with a  Jacuzzi bathtub and shower.

2. For a more quaint look, this designer uses a composting toilet, a copper washbasin and soaking tub in the bathroom. 

3. Kim Lewis uses "perforated copper panels" and places them on barn tracks to act as doors for the bathroom. This saves space in the tiny home. A message is also inlaid in the bathroom's tile floor.

4. Wohnwagon decorates its bathroom using natural stone and quarry marble for the mosaic in the shower. To keep the house "green," a composting toilet is installed as well.

5. Wind River Tiny Homes' Nomad's Nest includes the option of a "sunken" bathtub and shower.

6. Rowan Kunz chose to place a Loveable Loo composting toilet in her bathroom. The cypress bathtub was made by a friend. She also uses a hand pump to bring rain water from a storage system to her bathroom.

7. This tiny house featured on "FYI" has tile on the walls in the bathroom and an incinerating toilet.

8. Joel Weber's tiny bathroom has a shower and tub, but no toilet at the moment. For that, he uses the guest bathroom where he has his home parked. His plan is to add a toilet and a way to collect rain water, eventually.

9. The bathroom featured in Keva Tiny Homes has a galvanized tub for "cross-legged" baths. Showers can also be had, but a shower curtain is all that separates the bathroom from the rest of the home. Plenty of hot water is available with a hot water on demand system. 

10. The bathroom of Daniel Ferris has all the amenities of a regular bathroom. It has a shower and tub combination, a toilet and a basin sink. The wainscoting help make this house feel like a home. 

11. The shower is fully tiled in this bathroom through the use of recycled tiles.

12. Tumbleweed Tiny House Company shared the idea of using galvanized steel sheets to create the shower. They are already waterproof since they are meant for roofing, so they don't need to be treated.

13. This tiny house included a laundry room in the bathroom. You can "clean two birds with one bath."

14. Traveler RV placed the laundry in with the bathroom as well. The floor plans for the unit show a tub and shower combination behind the bathroom door across from the washer/dryer combo.

15. This bathroom is spa style. It has a full-sized galvanized tub, a spa shower, a vessel sink, and vanity lights. 

16. Tiny House Chattanooga's bathroom is made of wood flooring and white walls. Barn doors on tracks help save space. A composting toilet, shower, sink and washer/dryer combo make up the bathroom itself.

17. This tiny bathroom has a beautiful stained glass window and soaking bathtub. The toilet is tucked away to the left.

Going tiny doesn't mean going ugly. These tiny homes have all managed to keep the comforts of home and create a lovely atmosphere as well. Being tiny can be beautiful.
