Remodel & Renovate: When re-tiling a bath tub/shower how far up should the tile go? Does the tile need to extend past the shower nozzle by a certain distance?

If you want your tile surround to meet the minimum code - it must be 70 inches above the shower drain. If your goal is great work and performance, then Anthony's answer is best. Plumbing fixture manufacturer's suggest the shower arm outlet at 60 inches. Better: Add the height of the tallest occupant and add 2 inches for an optimum shower arm outlet. I hate to duck under a shower head to get wet!

Can a modern freestanding bathtub also be a shower?

carriejlb June 6, 2012 I am remodeling a small bathroom and picture a simple, modern, freestanding tub. There is no room for a separate shower, but I thought I could have an external shower head and suspended oval shower -curtain rod like you often see with clawfoot tubs. But I can't seem to find pics of a similar set up. Is it possible??? Why or why not? Here's an image of the tub I wanted and an example of the kind of shower set I envision. Thanks!!!
