When a Second Pregnancy Focuses on the Toddler

In our new series Pregnancy Diaries , we ask expecting women to jot down every pregnancy-related detail of their lives for a week. (Special thanks to New York mag and Refinery29 for the inspo.) Work-related conundrums, struggles with IVF, and a whole lot of nausea, ahead. For our eighth entry, we have a 33-year-old part-time publicist from Connecticut who’s 25 weeks along. She and her husband of almost eight years have a “spirited” two-and-a-half-year-old girl, and don’t know the sex of baby number two.  How long did it take you to conceive?  It took just a couple of months to conceive baby #2. My cycle has tended to fluctuate month-to-month since having my daughter, so it was a bit of a challenge to track accurately. We’ve been incredibly fortunate and have not experienced any fertility issues to-date. Any other details relevant to your pregnancy? Our daughter was born three weeks and one day early, and I gave birth less than three hours after my water broke. This is known as precipit...

Be The Badass Today You Were Too Afraid To Be Yesterday

Gambar
Helga Weber Today, be the badass girl you were too lazy to be yesterday. Wake up at 5am, hours before your alarm usually sounds. Race out of bed because hey, you’re fucking alive and you should start celebrating the miracle in that alone. Get shit done. Read, journal, meditate, work on your side hustle – whatever lights you up from within and makes your soul smile. Let all your thoughts pour out of you. Make lists of your goals and dreams and all the places you’ve always wanted to explore but never have. And start making real plans to cross them off, one by one. Whip yourself up a banging breakfast. One of those smoothie bowls topped with pretty little flowers that looks too pretty to eat. Eggs whatever way you like them best. Or maybe French toast. Whichever one is going to be the most heavenly to eat and get you energised for your day. Blast out the song you can’t get out of your head right now and jump in the shower. Let the water stream over you, washing away your yesterday and ...

AARON BROWN, CNN ANCHOR: Good evening again. I'm Aaron Brown. Those of you who get the daily e-mail know I seem to be in a bit of a mood today. I hate that. It's just something about the week. The Middle East is always a tough one. The sides are so passionate and so certain. And this was a difficult week there. But it was more than that. Too many kids are dying. And while I know the statistics and I believe them, our kids are in no greater danger now, the fact is that too many, even if too many is just the average number, are dying. There was Samantha Runnion and today, this child in Missouri, Casey Williamson. There's a story I did in the newsbreak tonight about a kid in Florida who was swimming in a lake and contracted a deadly disease. And then, not far away in another lake, another kid, a different d...

13 Tips for Successful Baby Travel

Gambar
Over the past 3 years we’ve learned a lot about what makes or breaks a trip with an infant. We’ve also learned that traveling with one baby is very different than traveling with two (shocking, I know). Let’s just say, I’ve gained a huge respect for those brave families that travel with 3 or 4 little ones. To you, I tip my hat. Last week, I received a message from a nervous mother about to take her infant on a flight for the very first time. I vividly remember feeling the same anxiety before our first few trips with Braydon (our first born). In preparation for her trip, she asked me to share my most useful baby travel tips . I sent her the link to our other blog Tips for Baby Travel  and later realized we haven’t written a detailed “ baby travel tips ” article on this site. We get asked this question quite often, so I thought it was about time we wrote a post dedicated to baby travel. We’ ve intentionally limited the amount of baby posts we publish on this site because we know a lot o...
