Democrat, GOP candidates diverge on bathroom bills | News

PIERRE | The lone South Dakota Democrat running for governor said Friday that measures restricting which facilities transgender students can use at school amount to "a solution in search of a problem." Sen. Billie Sutton opposed a so- called bathroom bill when it was proposed during the 2016 legislative session. He said in a statement to The Associated Press that local schools have been handling the issue in the best way for their students, a view shared by term- limited Republican Gov . Dennis Daugaard but one that diverges from the top two Republicans vying to replace him. Sutton pointed to the "catastrophic" economic consequences of passing such a measure. A similar law in North Carolina sparked national uproar and costly boycotts before lawmakers rolled much of it back. " South Dakota prides itself on common sense, and laws like this are a solution in search of a problem," the Burke legislator said in the statement. A key conservative group , Fam...

Back to School: Know Your Bathroom Privacy and Religious Liberty Rights

Gambar
While Texas public school classes are going back in session, the legislature has left its special session without passing essential privacy protections for our schools. This failure to protect privacy leaves schoolchildren vulnerable to school district policies that allow men into girls’ showers, locker rooms, and bathrooms.  The lack of a statewide standard on privacy in government buildings and schools contributes to an emerging patchwork of inconsistent local rules – many of which were passed behind closed doors with no input from the taxpayers (as has been the case in Coppell ISD, Dripping Springs ISD , and Fort Worth ISD ). Without a doubt, liberal LGBT interest groups will see Speaker Joe Straus ’s and Representative Byron Cook ’s blocking of the privacy protection bill as a green light to pursue even more un-vetted, untested, and controversial school district policies that put our children in danger – and will race to do so before a second special session. Our Texas Valu...

Hi guys, Been searching the web in general on this topic and there seems to be 12 opinions for every aspect of tiling, ALL of them 110% correct, tried and tested over 140 years of tiling experience... I'm more confused now than when I started! Anyway, I'm installing a complete new bathroom suite and have done the plumbing, subfloor, vinyl covering, toilet and basin so far. I've also tiled the wall behind the basin and it's pretty decent. Tiles are ceramic 361x276x9mm with a stone effect print . The backs are ribbed 'biscuit' (I think that's what it's known as anyway) type. I'm using Mapei BuildFix flexible tile adhesive along with the matching acrylic wall primer/sealer and flexible grout . I've also got some grout sealer. I'm tiling onto plasterboard (the green coloured stuff) which has been repaired and sealed with the acrylic primer mentioned above. Nex...
