Aromatherapy Associates

Gambar
Aromatherapy Associates Article added on January 5, 2010 A history of Aromatherapy Aromatherapy dates at least back to Ancient Egypt. Embalming, mummification, fragrances for daily life, bath oils as well as the use of aromatics in incense and medicine flourished. The Greek, the Romans, the Persians, the Chinese and the Indians, to name just a few, added to and refined the knowledge. In the 1880s, the German physician Robert Koch and subsequently his French colleagues Chamberland, Cadéac, Meunier, Blaizot, Caldagues and Bertrand proofed the antiseptic and microbicidal properties of essential oils. The term “Aromatherapy” is fairly recent. The French chemist Ren é-Maurice Gattefossé (1881-1950) coined it. Working in the family's laboratory, the perfumer studied the medicinal properties of essential oils. In 1937, he published his knowledge in Aromathérapie, les huiles essentielles , hormones végétales , regrouping previous publications in one book. The other fathers of present- ...

Back to School: Know Your Bathroom Privacy and Religious Liberty Rights

Gambar
While Texas public school classes are going back in session, the legislature has left its special session without passing essential privacy protections for our schools. This failure to protect privacy leaves schoolchildren vulnerable to school district policies that allow men into girls’ showers, locker rooms, and bathrooms.  The lack of a statewide standard on privacy in government buildings and schools contributes to an emerging patchwork of inconsistent local rules – many of which were passed behind closed doors with no input from the taxpayers (as has been the case in Coppell ISD, Dripping Springs ISD , and Fort Worth ISD ). Without a doubt, liberal LGBT interest groups will see Speaker Joe Straus ’s and Representative Byron Cook ’s blocking of the privacy protection bill as a green light to pursue even more un-vetted, untested, and controversial school district policies that put our children in danger – and will race to do so before a second special session. Our Texas Valu...

FACTS ¶ 2 According to the trial court's unchallenged findings of fact, at about 5:45 a.m. on February 11, 2006, Washington State University Police Officer Matthew Kuhrt responded to a reported burglary on the third floor of t...

Beyond the Bed, Bath and Beyond

I went to the Bed, Bath and Beyond a few days ago. I had to run in to get a new cartridge for my SodaStream machine because mine ran out and I have a serious addiction to bubbly water with a slice of lemon. I live in a college town and the kids are just getting back to school, so the place was packed. There were freshman and parents standing in the aisles, looking overwhelmed and dazed about what was about to happen to them. I grabbed what I needed and got in line to pay, when I noticed a girl and her father who were shopping together. The daughter was wearing a university sweatshirt and her father kept pushing up his glasses, clearly stressed out about choosing a desk lamp for her dorm. They looked ready to come to blows over color preference. He was showing her the features of the lamp he liked and she was having none of it. She liked the purple one. I tried not to stare, but I love watching the kids come back to school. I tend to be enamored with normalcy. Since I started acting as ...

The Five Must Have Electronic Devices for College

Gambar
It's that time of the year again when summer winds down and the back-to- school season begins . Soon, Bed, Bath and Beyond and Target stores all over the country will be flooding with college goers, as they hustle for the best deals in town, especially in technology. With so many things to buy, however, students often find it hard to distinguish between what they need and what they want. The situation is made more intricate by the numerous "welcome to college" sales held by retailers, which tempt students and their parents to stock up on promotion items than other would-be essentials. For collegians, therefore, it pays to have a well-drawn-out shopping list. The right tech will help you do research, draft assignments, keep organized, stay fit, and decompress after a long day on campus. Are you going off to college soon? Here are five gadgets you just can't overlook. 1. Laptop In today's overly technological world , a decent college laptop is as important to a st...
