<?xml encoding="UTF-8"???><?xml encoding="UTF-8"???> Marble Shower Walls Although there are various types of tiling designs available for home decor, marble shower walls are recommended if you want a classic touch to your bathroom design . Marble is a natural stone that is processed to create materials for architecture and design, and is a common design for kitchens, bathrooms and foyers. It can even be used outdoors, as in swimming pool decks . It is rather expensive, being one of the most elegant materials used for shower walls. Marble shower walls are a popular choice among homeowners who wish to improve their homes' aesthetic quality and make it look more appealing. Choosing marble for your shower wall There are several characteristics to consider when choosing the material to cover your bathroom or shower walls. Bathroom Tile, at Different Heights

How high should you tile your bathroom walls?  Floor to ceiling is chic, but tile wainscotting also makes an impact.  This guide will help you decide how high to tile in your bathroom. Standard Tub and Shower Walls The minimum code height for a tub or shower enclosure's water proof covering is 6' above the finished floor height . A practical height, when working with full sized 12" tiles is 6 courses. This results in a height that meets the minimum with a bit to spare when the grout lines are factored in. When I install shower tile about half of my clients go for tile all the way to the ceiling in the shower areas. This extra tile work adds little to the cost of the project and can give a modern look to an older bath. The big decisions come with tiling the rest of the room. Tile Work Outside of the Shower . Tile baseboard height : The first level of wall tile is comprised of a " tile baseboard ." This level of wall covering provides some robustness for aggr...

How to Install a Shower Pan

Gambar
Photo: wayfair.com The shower pan is an unsung hero in cramped bathing quarters that rely on a walk-in shower instead of a full-size bathtub. Its role? Protecting your subfloor from water damage by aiding drainage. This waterproof floor covering —often made of fiberglass, acrylic, or tile—slopes just enough to direct water toward the drain in the floor, thus eliminating most problems caused by lingering water, from mold and mildew growth to structural issues like wood rot. Whether you’re remodeling a bathroom to include a shower pan where none existed before or replacing one that’s seen its day, basic plumbing skills and a free weekend are all you need when learning how to install a shower pan. Why Switch to a Shower? Many homeowners choose a shower (and thus a shower pan, because you can’t have one without the other) over a bathtub when renovating in order to increase the available floor space and make the bathroom feel larger . Walk-in showers tend to be sleeker in style than boxy ...

Bathroom Wall Panels

Decorative wall panels allow you to dress up your bathroom in a beautiful way. Although ceramic tiles are one of the most popular ways of doing up the shower walls, they often render an old and worn-out look to your bathroom within just a few years of installation. The reason behind this is the grout between the tiles, which begins to discolor and look dirty. On the other hand, wall panels keep your bathroom gleaming for years. They come in a myriad styles and materials so that you can easily match them with the rest of the décor in your house. Styles of Bathroom Wall Paneling Full Wall Paneling: Wall panels come as 4 x 8 ft sheets, which are mostly pre-finished. Full wall paneling includes covering the walls of bathroom with panels from flooring to ceiling. This creates a very uniform and seamless look for the shower walls. My Bathroom Renovation | Curbly

Gambar
We recently completed a bathroom renovation and we learned a lot in the process.  Just to give you a little background on the project, my husband and I hired an architecht last fall to help us with renovating our home.  We knew for sure we wanted to replace windows but wanted to ensure we weren't wasting money on new windows in parts of the house we may change later.  So we gave him our entire wish list and before we knew it the project took on a life of its own.  So after three months of design meetings we received gorgeous plans of our dream house.  Then we learned it was going to cost much more then we were willing to spend.  So we decided to stage the renovation in three parts.  The first part was completed this past summer which included all new windows (requiring several walls to be rebuilt), a front portico and door, replacement of a decaying second story deck, opening up our living room and sunroom to make one big room, interior and exterior paint and a redo of our master ...

Tiling above bath/shower advice?

craig1410 posted on 13/2/11 at 01:36 PM Tiling above bath/shower advice? Hi guys, Been searching the web in general on this topic and there seems to be 12 opinions for every aspect of tiling, ALL of them 110% correct, tried and tested over 140 years of tiling experience... I'm more confused now than when I started! Anyway, I'm installing a complete new bathroom suite and have done the plumbing, subfloor, vinyl covering, toilet and basin so far. I've also tiled the wall behind the basin and it's pretty decent. Tiles are ceramic 361x276x9mm with a stone effect print . The backs are ribbed 'biscuit' (I think that's what it's known as anyway) type. I'm using Mapei BuildFix flexible tile adhesive along with the matching acrylic wall primer/sealer and flexible grout . I've also got some grout sealer. I'm tiling onto plasterboard (the green coloured stuff) which has been repaired and sealed with the acrylic primer mentioned above. Nex...
