Shocking leaflet in Australia claims equal marriage will lead to women getting raped

Gambar
A shocking leaflet in Australia is urging people to vote ‘no’ to same-sex marriage to avoid getting raped. The bilingual leaflet, printed in English and Chinese, was distributed among the Asian community in Hurstville, Sydney ahead of a public vote on equal marriage . The leaflet, which was posted on Twitter by equal marriage campaigner Sally Rugg encourages people to vote no to equal marriage by raising fears about transgender rights. It says: “If same sex marriage legislation is passed, it would be a threat to the safety of women, creating great fear and harm to them. “For by then, there would be no separate public toilets , changing rooms or shower rooms for male and female. “The transexual ‘counterfeit’ women will be protected under the law, to enter the female toilets including those at schools legally. “This may give rise to the rapists who may masquerade as a ‘transgender woman’ sneaking into the public ‘forbidden land’ for men. “These places may then become easy sport for...

Bathroom Bills Stall Amid Shower Of Criticism

We may miss the nasty vulgarities that the pivoting Donald Trump is said to be leaving behind. Now we’re stuck with the bathroom bills — and Trump’s comment that people should “use the bathroom they feel is appropriate.” So: the mighty-handed Trump, whose wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command beats back Mexican rapists , Muslim terrorists, and black murderers, is — let’s not beat around the bysshe — shrinking like a shriveling shrinking thing before the NewYorkTimesie pushers of gender-neutral bathrooms and showers for high-school kids. Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair! The bathroom bills , which push back against this latest insanity, bring to mind Randall Jarrell ’s quip in “Pictures from an Institution”: “You have to see it not to believe it.” What astounds is that transgender people aren ’t just interested in bathrooms qua bathrooms (as they probably say in the tony gender-free aeries of progressive liberalism). What they want is to destroy convention itself. Not just ...

Bathroom Break: Designers Create New Generation of No-Gender Restrooms

Gender Neutral Restroom Sign, Baby Wale Restaurant DC Flikr. This story was reported by the  American Media Institute . Goodbye to the urinal? In many places, a gender-neutral revolution in bathroom design is afoot. Born in the offices of architects, the design upheaval is quieter than the noisy public debate over gender bathroom equality , but designers are clearly bending to political winds and client demand. Public space is being changed for generations to come. New designs without gender labels are already showing up around the country. The Fourth, a restaurant in New York City’s East Village, has only a single restroom , featuring three private, floor-to-ceiling stalls labeled “unisex,” three labeled “women” and one for the handicapped. All are accessed through a common door. The Fourth has no dedicated men’s room. Other private buildings in New York that feature all- gender restrooms include the Whitney Museum , relocated to a new Renzo Piano-designed structure last year in ...

As bathroom bill prospects fade, opposition grows

With prospects for transgender bathroom limits getting slimmer by the day in the Legislature, opponents kept pressing the gas pedal Tuesday , holding the latest in a series of Capitol events meant to showcase broad disapproval of the most contentious item on a special session agenda filled with hot-button issues. First, dozens of women business and community leaders from across Texas stood on the Capitol’s south steps to say they don’t feel threatened by sharing restrooms with transgender women and don’t appreciate “discriminatory” policies being made in their name. Then officials from the influential Texas Travel Industry Association abandoned months of quiet opposition, telling Gov. Greg Abbott that his effort to limit transgender-friendly bathrooms is smearing the state’s reputation and endangering hundreds of small businesses. “As an industry that depends on a healthy and welcoming Texas brand , these types of public policies are … potentially catastrophic,” David Teel, pres...

Etiquette 101: Baths, Saunas, Spa Treatments

Gambar
Finnish cabinet ministers do it, Russian hockey players do it, Koreans do it on a first date. Social bathing—known as "naked communion" in Japan—is an integral part of several cultures, strengthening bonds between family members, colleagues, and heads of state. In many countries it's also considered the proper way to welcome a foreign guest. Whether sauna or sento, banya or hammam, the shared bath is society's great leveler, its group hug, its collective sigh. "Not sampling the local bathing culture would be like not trying the local cuisine," says Melisse Gelula, co-founder of Well&Good NYC, an online wellness guide . And like any other institution integral to a society, this one has its rules, the first of which is to behave with churchlike decorum. In Finland, the sauna is the church, says Joonas Berghäll, co-director of the Finnish documentary Steam of Life. (Statistics bear him out: With just over five million inhabitants, Finland has roughly...
