They pioneered the familiar single- handled faucet so prevalent in kitchens and bathrooms. But no matter which Moen faucet you use, they all have one thing in common: the Moen 1225 cartridge . This cartridge works by helping to regulate the water temperature and pressure, so you always get what you want when you turn on the faucet. Occasionally these cartridges wear out and stop working. If you notice that the water pressure in your bathroom sink is below par, it's time to replace the faucet cartrid...

Bathroom Sink Faucet Upgrade with Moen

Gambar
This post brought to you by Moen, Incorporated. All opinions are 100% mine. As you saw last week, we’ve been busy sprucing up the bathrooms for Spring. A few small touches truly make the world of difference. Last week was decor, this week it’s the faucet in the master bath. The space got a DIY makeover last year , but at the time being on a tight budget, the existing faucet remained . It was fine and functional, but the style was dated and original to the house. With the BHG crew coming next week ( yes, next week, can you believe it? ), I thought a little upgrade was due. So… the existing faucet . A one large round handled beauty (NOT!)… When it came time to choose a new faucet, I needed to stick with a single hole style versus the faucets that have 3 holes (2 holes for the handles + 1 hole for the spout). I chose the  Boardwalk Spot Resist bath faucet in brushed nickel because it resists fingerprints ( even the tiniest, messiest ones that come from the pint sized members of you...

How to Fix a Leaking Bathroom Faucet

Gambar
A dripping faucet is one of those chores that tend to get pushed to the bottom of the “honey-do” list. It’s not dangerous, like a sparking electrical outlet . It’s not super-annoying, like a Justin Bieber song , or a smoke detector that wants new batteries, and reminds you by chirping loudly every 30 seconds, ALL NIGHT LONG. It might seem a little intimidating, because you have to move the 247 containers of shampoo and conditioner and toilet cleaner and sponges and razor blades and feminine hygiene products from under the sink, so you can shut the water off. You then have to figure out how to take the faucet apart, and then actually go find the right parts and put the stupid thing back together. All this can lead to a decision to just let the leaking bathroom faucet keep on leaking. Deep in your environmentally responsible heart , though, you know that’s the wrong decision, and it’s really a pretty simple fix . Take heart, and follow our simple guide to fix YOUR leaking bathroom fau...

5 Stylish & Kid-Friendly Bathroom Updates

Meet my family, in our annual “Turn the Couch Around Easter Photo.” Notice that I am the only female in the picture?  Yep, I am surrounded by boys. Even my dog and cat are males. This picture is a slightly more accurate representation of what things are usually like around here 🙂 So now that you have a good picture in your mind of the daily craziness that is my house, you will understand why one of my missions is to have my house be as kid-friendly as possible. By “kid-friendly,” I don’t really mean toys everywhere and washable fabrics . . . What I’m really going for is a home where the basic functions can be worked by both adults and children. I want to teach my kids independence, and that they are capable of doing things without always asking for Mommy and Daddy’s help.  Plus, sometimes I just need a break from the craziness 🙂 The bathroom is traditionally one of the  least kid-friendly spaces in any home .  There are all sorts of gadgets in bathrooms which are hard for kids to m...

Cleaning Up With Scotch-Brite™ Bathroom Solutions

I’m spoiled, I admit it.  My husband does a ton of housework and that includes most of the  gross stuff, like the bathrooms.  He also does more than his share of the dishes.  I suppose I should feel guilty, but instead, I’m just grateful. We recently got a box of Scotch-Brite ™ Bathroom Solutions sample products to try out and evidently they’re working out just fine, because the bathroom looks great, especially the 1970’s shower stall that ridiculously hard to keep clean.  Turns out the the hubby has made use of all of the cleaning products Scotch -Brite sent, which are shaped differently to target specific areas of the bathroom like behind the toilet and around the faucet and drain and I’m using the mirror wipe and tub scrubber almost daily myself. Scotch-Brite ™ is a brand we’ve used for years.  We love their durability, but they’re gentle on our hands as well as bathroom surfaces .  And, they come clean after use by tossing them in the dishwasher or washing them in disinfectant. C...
