Designers: Robert Buechler, Aaron Carlson and Lenny Slutsky Supervising Professor:  Larry Bohs INTRODUCTION Our client, an 8-year-old boy with Thrombocytopenia Absent Radius (TAR) Syndrome, could not bathe independently because his arms are weak and very short. The Bath Chair has a PVC frame and mesh bath sponges as washing surfaces. A shower caddy is mounted to a safety railing on the right side of the chair, and showerheads attach to the top of the chair and to a safety railing on the left side. The client controls water flow for each showerhead using two push-button valves on a diverter. Using the chair, the client can now bathe independently. SUMMARY OF IMPACT The client previously needed help from his parents to bathe, but now can bathe by himself.  His mother commented, “This is a huge step for (him) in terms of personal care for himself.  … I can’t put into words the joy it makes me feel seeing him excited about gaining this independence.” TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION The frame of t...

10 images The shower bath is a marvellous piece of dual- function design . It provides additional width for over- bath showering without losing the lie-back-and-soak function of a traditional bath – brilliant for tight spaces where a separate bath and shower just won’t fit. Look for shower screens that will make the most of your bath, following a curving edge of a P-shaped bath and sliding open, or providing a streamlined wall of glass in line with a square L-shaped design. Buy everything separately for your perfect combination, or look for complete suites. Some even include the showers themselves, taps, bath panels and fittings, so shop about for a bargain. The Extreme How-To staff will be exhibiting at the convention this year in Nashville, TN, so if you make the trip, stop by booth 525 and say hello. In the meantime, here’s a preview of products that will be on display. Deckorators Heritage Decking Two new Deckorators Heritage deck boards bring interior design to outdoor living . Heritage Riverhouse and Heritage Smokehouse composite decking feature detailed embossing that offers the rustic look and feel of distressed wood flooring .
