Aromatherapy Associates Oils - Worth the hype?

Gambar
As they have become a daily reached for product over the past four weeks, I wanted to share my thoughts with you on some products which are often raved about in the beauty world, and rightly so. Aromatherapy Associates has been a favourite brand of mine for around a year and a half now, with their Rose Hydrating Mist being a firm favourite skincare product as well as their Soothing Face Oil which works to nourish, repair and replenish my skin during the colder months. Aromatherapy Associates are most well known for their oils and with their Miniature Bath & Shower Oil Collection on a lot of people's Christmas wishlists, I thought I would share my thoughts on their infamous oils and my favourites.  The Aromatherapy Associates Miniature Bath & Shower Oil Collection * ( Aromatherapy Associates *, 9x3ml, £32) is the perfect way to try lots of the lovely oils Aromatherapy Associates produce , without having to commit to the full size straight off. Personally, I adore w...

The Waddle's Not So Cute Anymore

It's the final countdown -- fast approaching single -digit weeks -- before you get to meet your baby and coo over those tiny fingers and toes. Unfortunately, tiny isn't the word that comes to mind these days. The homestretch can be, well, a stretch. Itchy bellies, achy backs, swollen ankles, hemorrhoids -- you name the annoyance, and some expectant mom probably feels it. The real remedy, of course, is childbirth. But since that option is still a bit premature, we asked an obstetrician, a midwife, and a family practitioner to share their best trade secrets for surviving the common aches and pains of the third trimester. Our experts: Owen Montgomery, MD, assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia; Stephanie Lowell, a certified nurse midwife in Phoenix, Ariz.; and. Bruce Bagley, MD, a family-practice physician in Latham, N.Y., and former president of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Make sure to talk...

The Big Read: In a wealthy US suburb, they sleep in a parking lot

It's almost bedtime. John Baird Jr., 47, smokes on the hood of his 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis sedan , his plaid sleeping bag neatly tucked in the trunk. Kathleen McDermott , 81, slouches in the driver's seat of her 2002 Ford Focus station wagon . Two angel statuettes stare from her dashboard into clothes and clutter behind her. Scott Downey, 52, works a crossword puzzle on his phone inside a 2006 Chrysler Town & Country van that smells faintly like cats. Clothes hang on hooks in the back, and emergency supplies of ramen noodles and Vienna sausages sit out of plain view. Sleeping in their cars, they are homeless but sort of not, a subset of a population officially classified as "unsheltered" and slowly shrinking in these suburbs of Washington, even as the nu...

When a Second Pregnancy Focuses on the Toddler

In our new series Pregnancy Diaries , we ask expecting women to jot down every pregnancy-related detail of their lives for a week. (Special thanks to New York mag and Refinery29 for the inspo.) Work-related conundrums, struggles with IVF, and a whole lot of nausea, ahead. For our eighth entry, we have a 33-year-old part-time publicist from Connecticut who’s 25 weeks along. She and her husband of almost eight years have a “spirited” two-and-a-half-year-old girl, and don’t know the sex of baby number two.  How long did it take you to conceive?  It took just a couple of months to conceive baby #2. My cycle has tended to fluctuate month-to-month since having my daughter, so it was a bit of a challenge to track accurately. We’ve been incredibly fortunate and have not experienced any fertility issues to-date. Any other details relevant to your pregnancy? Our daughter was born three weeks and one day early, and I gave birth less than three hours after my water broke. This is known as precipit...
