SHOWER MIXER TAP REPAIR
(Mixer taps) A tap with separate hot and cold inputs and having a single output. The inputs can be adjusted to give the required temperature and flow. n. 1. A tap at a sink which delivers both hot and cold water. This is not as common as an American would expect. There is a law in the U.K. which requires that mixer taps do not actually mix the water inside the tap itself, but it must be mixed outside in the air. A tap is a valve controlling release of liquids (faucet and spigot are the terms used in the U.S.) or gas. In the British Isles and most of the Commonwealth, the word is used for any everyday type of valve, particularly the fittings that control water supply to bathtubs and sinks.
