Half Bath | A Design Dream Come True

Gambar
After a few days of chaos, stress, illness & fun, it feels great to take a moment to decompress & share something I’ve been excited about completing – our half bathroom. In the midst of chaos, I find sanity in organization, peace in pretty. Even if the rest of me feels out of sorts, at least this little half bath doesn ’t. I often start projects – multiple at one time, never truly finishing one. Do you do that? I decided that this Spring, I would take some time to complete each space, giving each the finishing touches I always intended to, but neglected to do in favor of a new project {#celebratehome}. Our tiny little half bath is now everything I dreamed it would be! Here are a couple before photos for reference: The space was tight, dark & dated. The countertop over the toilet made me claustrophobic & the white carpeting, well, you know. We started remodeling the half bath immediately after moving into our home. We opened it up by removing the existing vanity ...

Bathroom Makeover " src="http://madincrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/DIYBathroomMakeover_thumb1.png" alt="DIY Bathroom Makeover " width="700" height="1049" style="border: 0px;" /> This is such a happy post for me!  First, because our bathroom makeover project is FINALLY DONE and, second, because I don’t have to keep any of it a secret anymore.  If you follow me on instagram, you have been getting some blurry hints about the big reveal but now I can share all the DIY projects that went into transforming our “fine” bathroom into a gorgeous space. Because our bathroom was basically fine in the first place, the room just got a makeover not a renovation.  I don’t have the budget or the DIY skills to lay tile or replace a toilet.  In fact, all of the larger pieces of our bathroom were left in the room.  I didn’t even paint the walls because they had just been painted two years ago when we moved in.  That doesn’t mean I didn’t p...

We helped to make it a reality by replacing the vinyl flooring and shower surround , installing a new vanity top and faucets, and replacing the toilet and light fixtures . Bathroom Prep Work The whole Greenwood family pitched in and helped by stripping the old wallpaper, and removing the tub surround and vanity top. Watch How to Strip Wallpaper to find out more. How I Saved $1500 in my Bathroom Renovation (and you can too)

Jan Romanuk and I were business partners years ago . If you are building or renovating a home (anywhere on the North Shore in Vancouver) and need a designer to choose everything or a project manager, she is the one. There’s very little that Jan doesn’t know about the world of renovations in every aspect. She knows exactly where to source every little thing that your house might need. Jan Romanuk measuring the sconce placement with the template of the round mirror going in my master bedroom. Jan stayed with me this week  to manage all the details of the start of my bathroom renovation and I’m so grateful that she did. Since I spend my days either decorating or specifying colour, renovating is not what I do and I am not an expert in the minutia of what happens next inside a renovation. The demolition happened Monday and the electrician arrived Tuesday . This means you have to have all your lighting chosen. If you don’t, your electrician will likely measure 64″ off the floor (for wall s...
