Patent US20070266646 - Shower or Bath Wall Panel and Method of Forming Same

FIELD OF INVENTION [0001] The invention relates to a shower or bath wall liner panel and method of forming same. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION [0002] When for example a door and return panel are fitted in the corner of a bathroom or similar to provide a shower enclosure, the existing corner walls of the room which together with the door and return panel define the shower enclosure, must be lined with an appropriate waterproof lining. Bathroomware manufacturers sell wall liner panels which comprise a one piece sheet with a right angle fold down the sheet, which may be fitted in place to line the two intersecting walls of the bathroom where the shower is to be situated, before the door and return panel are then installed. Typically these wall panels are formed from a plastics sheet material . A right angle centre fold is formed in a standard size sheet in the factory, and the sheet may be flex-folded further to reduce it's volume and is packaged in a cardboard carton. At an ...

How to Tile a Bathroom Floor

Tiling a bathroom floor is one of the most cost- effective home improvement projects that needs moderate skills and correct materials. It’s a great way to add value to your bathroom remodel and can allow you to add upgrades like radiant heat. It’s easier than ever to source great-looking, affordable tile . Choosing the right tile color and style When selecting a tile for the floor, the color should be neutral and coordinate with your cabinetry, paint color and shower or bathtub. If your bathroom floor tends to get messy from dust and debris, consider a tile that isn’t a solid color – a variety of color changes or textures will do a better job hiding dirt than a solid color. Using a light color may contribute to a greater sense of space but that theory isn’t always true. The color choice should be more dependent upon how the color of the floor tile relates to the other colors in the room. Be sure you bring home samples of your top choices and set them on the floor next to your ot...

From a crowd- funded smart shovel to a why-didn’t-someone-do-this-sooner scheme for managing traffic in public restroom s, these ideas are noteworthy for creative problem -solving. Here are some of the most intriguing innovations the BD+C community has brought to our attention this year.   1. TRUSS SYSTEM UNDERGIRDS MONUMENTAL STAIR Structure becomes art at a Massachusetts college library To invite exploration of its new academic library, Salem (Mass.) State University selected a light-filled and airy design. The site and program called for deep floor plates , so the Building Team devised a dramatic open staircase as a central feature to help break up the density. The engineering solution consists of a truss that supports the whole stair, with each step created from a triangular box beam that hangs off the truss. Stairs are stringer-free and accented with eye- catching red paint . Glass panels protect users while showcasing the design. The prominent feature is also visible from...

How to Install a Shower Pan

Gambar
Photo: wayfair.com The shower pan is an unsung hero in cramped bathing quarters that rely on a walk-in shower instead of a full-size bathtub. Its role? Protecting your subfloor from water damage by aiding drainage. This waterproof floor covering —often made of fiberglass, acrylic, or tile—slopes just enough to direct water toward the drain in the floor, thus eliminating most problems caused by lingering water, from mold and mildew growth to structural issues like wood rot. Whether you’re remodeling a bathroom to include a shower pan where none existed before or replacing one that’s seen its day, basic plumbing skills and a free weekend are all you need when learning how to install a shower pan. Why Switch to a Shower? Many homeowners choose a shower (and thus a shower pan, because you can’t have one without the other) over a bathtub when renovating in order to increase the available floor space and make the bathroom feel larger . Walk-in showers tend to be sleeker in style than boxy ...

The size and overall design of your bathroom will also play a role in what your shower stall looks like, but don't limit yourself until you've checked out all your options. Walk-in Shower For small bathrooms, designing a walk-in shower stall can make great use of existing space. For larger baths, it can keep the room feeling open and expansive. Design the entire bathroom floor in nonslip tile that slopes slightly toward the shower drain, then tile the walls around one end or corner of the bathroom up to at least 6 feet high for your shower area. If your bathroom is large, you can simply let the shower spray fall freely or place a water- resistant folding screen between the shower and other parts of the room for privacy. For smaller baths, hang a curtain to block the shower spray from ...
