October 24, 2016 Holly Sosa This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #WetSkinMoisturizer #CollectiveBias I’m a bath gal and always have been. In winter especially, I love to turn on the water as hot as I can stand and just soak in bubbles, salts, or bath bombs. Since I typically enjoy a winter bath right before bed, I love to soak in soothing lavender bath salts that I whip up at home with just three simple ingredients. Lavender calms and relaxes which makes it ideal for pre-bedtime rituals. For me, it’s my preferred way to unwind and melt away my worries, so I thought I’d share how I make these Soothing Lavender Bath Salts . SUPPLIES dried lavender epsom salts lavender essential oil glass container I start by adding about a quarter cup of dried lavender to my glass container . Next I add just over a cup of epsom salts. These can be found at Walmart in the pharmacy aisles. Then I drip...

Welcome to Day 3 of our Gift Ideas in a Jar series!  Hope you’re enjoying the ideas we’ve had this week! Its a  DIY warm cocoa bath soak ! I am a bath lover. I prefer a bath over a shower any day.  One thing I love to do for “me time” is draw a nice (piping hot!) bath after I’ve put the kids to bed and just sit and do nothing. I love it. What makes it even better is when I have some yummy bath salts , fizzies, milk bath or yummy smelling bubble bath to add to the water. DIY Warm Cocoa Bath Soak " width="601" height="885" /> Today, I made the best one yet. This DIY Warm Cocoa Bath soak is a mix of DIY Cocoa bath salts and DIY Milk bath that will leave you (and your skin!) feeling incredible. I’ve got two simple recipes for the bath soak and I layered them in this jar. First we have the Cocoa Bath Salts . I also added the benefits of each ingredient below. I love how therapeutic this bath soak is. Cocoa Bath Salts 1 cup of Epsom Salt – great for injuries, c...

Lavender & Orange Epsom Salt Bath

Last night marked the first real snowfall here in Minneapolis. Although there are just a few inches on the ground, the transition to winter is evident. The air is crisper and chillier, and I find myself reaching for gloves every time I go out. Soon enough, I’ll be well into my first Minnesota winter. Uh oh 😉 … Cue the hot tea, cozy sweaters, and of course, some warm soups and stews. Bundling up and nourishing ourselves with hot foods and drinks is a sure way to stay warm in the winter, but we can also bear the cold by taking an occasional bath . While soaking in hot water is a great way to unwind and relax, adding epsom salts to a bath can provide even more benefits. Epsom salts are made from magnesium and sulfate, dissolve easily in water, and are readily absorbed through the skin. Soaking in an epsom salt bath  is an alternative way to take in magnesium, a mineral that is essential to overall wellness. Epsom salts are a natural replacement for commercial bath salts that may contai...

How safe is your bubble bath? - Green Living

Whether you use it in the bath or in the shower, most of us wash using shower gel or bubble bath every day. Particularly in the winter months, nothing could be nicer than settling back in a tub overflowing with soothing soapy suds . But when the average bottle of shower gel costs less than £2, it begs the question: what are you really putting onto your skin? Effervescent bath products have been around for an extremely long time , with the first fizzing bath salts appearing in the early 20th Century . Early bubble bath was made using soap flakes but by the mid-1930s, surfactants had arrived. Surfactants are a chemical compound, mostly made from synthetic materials (although some are derived from palm or coconut oils), which are usually found in industrial detergents, washing power and latterly, bath products. One commonly held misconception about bath and shower gel is that it is little more than a runny type of soap. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Not only are cheap sho...

While this was a sponsored opportunity from Yahoo!, all content and opinions expressed here are my own. The wonderful thing about Christmas giving is that it gets everyone thinking about what their loved ones want and need.  Maybe you have someone on your list who spend her whole year thinking about others.  A nurse? A mom? A teacher, caregiver, or other thoughtful person?  Do you know what that caring person really needs this time of year?  A minute to relax! Gifts that encourage you to take some time for yourself are sure to be appreciated.  After I checked out this video on Yahoo! on how to DIY your own bath teas, I got the urge to make some spa gifts of my own.  I...
